Ethics Talk Live: Business & politics: navigating trade sanctions in turbulent times
March 24 · Virtual from HELSINKI
14-15 EEST
As ethics & compliace professionals we are part of the turbulent global situation we are currently witnessing. Trade sanctions are a vital part of advocating for a sustainable solution. Business and politics become intertwined, we can no longer say “it is just business” but have to understand the role we play in fostering good governance and democratic societies.
As a compliance professional one may view trade sanctions as a mere technical compliance exercise. This is of course true, we have to implement screening processes, interpret due diligence reports and red flags and conduct complex product classification exercises. When conducting these, often burdensome, activities we should be not forget the greater purpose and how we as business can impact societies.
