Experts speaking at the event
She was elected as a Vice-President of the European Parliament in October 2017 and serves on the Committee on International Trade and the Subcommittee on Human Rights. In 2017, she established a Working Group on Responsible Business Conduct in the European Parliament.
In Finland, Ms Hautala served as a Member of Parliament from 1991 to 1995 and from 2003 to 2009. From 2011 to 2013, she was the Minister for International Development and State Ownership Steering.
She holds a Master’s degree in Agriculture and Forestry.
Salla’s practice includes capital markets, public takeovers and other domestic and cross-border M&A transactions involving both public and private corporations. She is also experienced in advising on, and negotiating venture capital and private equity transactions.
Salla has in-depth knowledge of corporate governance and compliance. She is experienced in advising clients in various ESG matters such as, business and human rights. Salla represents our Nordic offices in DLA Piper’s Sustainability and Environmental, Social and Governance steering group. She is also Helsinki office’s responsible pro bono partner and representative of Iris, DLA Piper’s LGBT+ network.
Niina has supported numerous global and local organizations with governance and compliance related matters as a leader and through her own company.
Niina has received several acknowledgements for her work as a key note speaker and business ethics influencer. She is also an author of several business ethics and governance related books. Key conclusion of her PhD was that organizational culture plays a crucial role in the effectiveness of compliance programs.
Niina believes that we should have more uncomfortable conversations at work to enable more responsible work life.
